Springing into April on Lyric Sails!

Spring is in the Air on Lyric Sails!

Wow, it’s already April! Where did the time go? People often ask me how it’s possible to live in an endless summer, with little seasonal change. Often I joke that we do have seasons, hurricane season and non-hurricane season. But there is a more subtle difference in the ebb and flow of a year in Caribbean.

Personally, I love this time of year, when the sun sets later and rises earlier, and we eek out just that extra smidgen of daylight. The seas calm, but the breeze persists. The days are still warm, and the nights retain a slight tropical chill. Normally, our tourists and snowbirds would start fleeing back north, but this year, with our tourist season so altered by last year’s storms, there is an energy of return on island. Tourists with previously delayed vacations are returning to discover a new time of year. More long-term residents are returning as their homes get fixed and opportunities arise. And as they have for 100’s of years, the leatherback sea turtles have begun nesting on Sandy Point once more, undeterred.

With that in mind, Happy Spring and Happy April! We hope you will come out and join us for a sunset sail this month! The sunsets have been spectacular lately–the combination of slight cloud cover and Sahara dust make for some amazing colors. On clear days, we’ve even been seeing green flashes! Also, we have our Pier back! The FEMA ship is gone, so you can walk down the pier or jump off it during the day! The Pier lights have been restored (thank you VI Port Authority) so free to talk a walk down the pier after your sail and look for turtles and tarpons! Apparently there was even a baby whale shark sighting by the pier this past week!

Some of our musical highlights this month include Jahnee Redlocks for Reggae Night on April 14th and Steve Katz on April 7 and April 28th. The Drunk Dumplins are playing for our Stargazing and Sunset Sail on April 17th–we do these sails on the night of the New Moon and this is an excellent chance to see bioluminescence in the water. On the other end of the spectrum, R&B Connection is playing our April Full Moon sail on the 29th. These sails have been selling out early, so book sooner rather than later!

Also on April 22nd we are excited to host new guest Chef Lamar Bough for Wine on the Water. Lamar will be cooking a 6 course farm-to-boat meal, paired with wines from Bellows/Prestige. We can’t wait to see what he comes up with!

See you on board!

We have a few anchorages on the West End where we stop for snorkeling, swimming and relaxing. Lunch is provided on our full day sail, snacks on the half day sail, and there’s an open bar on both trips!
